First ELF lacrosse camp for Italian women's team: Milano Baggataway02.05.2011
In preparation for a lacrosse tournament in Bratislava; Italy's first women's lacrosse team joined forces with the European Lacrosse Federation to hold their first lacrosse camp in Milan. The camp was held on April 29th- May 1st and was directed by Anna Sody, E.L.F's Women's Coaching Coordinator and Head Coach of Germany's Dusseldorf Antlers. The Milan team is brand new to the lacrosse world only introducing themselves a year before. The upcoming tournament will be their first experience playing against other teams and are looking forward to the competition. "No matter what the outcome of the tournament; our goal is to learn and strengthen our team" Francesca Capriotti commented. Over the course of the long weekend, the team strengthened their individual skills, learned the ground rules of offense and defense and gained better insight into how to work together as a team. "The girls were relentless in their efforts to gain as much knowledge about lacrosse as possible," remarked Anna Sody, "after every drill I could see the 'what's next?' eagerness on their faces." 10 enthusiastic participants walked away with 16 hours worth of intensive training to apply to future practices and tournaments.
"The camp was great, we learned so much. It does so much for the team to have a coach that gives you feedback when you are doing something incorrectly or gives you little suggestions that make your game better," stated Anna Guidi. At the end of the camp, Coach Sody observed, "In just one weekend, the girls have improved immensely. You can now see confidence in the girls as they hold their shoulders high on attack and hold their ground on defense." The ELF would like to thank all participants for a successful camp. A special thanks goes to Silvia Di Stefano and Francesca Capriotti for managing the event and would like to wish Milano Baggataway Lacrosse all the best in their future endeavors. The European Lacrosse Federation frequently supports clubs with focus camps in Men's and Women's Lacrosse. Our coaches work as ambassadors of the game and on a non-profit basis - if you wanted to have camp for your club or join or coaching staff, please e-mail Henning Schmidt, ELF Coaching Coordinator, coaching@europeanlacrosse.org. |
