Lacrosse Comes To Portugal

On January 21st, 2008, the very first lacrosse clinic was held in Portugal. The event took place in Coimbra (center of Portugal) and started off with a an introduction to the sport by President of the ELF Peter Mundy, who informed about the game itself and also how the sport has developed throughout Europe. Following the presentation the attendees headed for the university stadium to try out the game itself. All the basics of lacrosse were covered (passing, catching, groundballs etc) followed by a game.

Everyone was very enthusiastic about the day and the organizer Francisco Fonseca was personally very happy to see more than 35 people attending. Lots of excitement that will hopefully lead to the set up of lacrosse teams in Portugal within the near future.
