The European Lacrosse Championships28.04.2005
From July 24 – July 31 the European Lacrosse Championships were held in Prague. As is the tradition, the men’s and the women’s tournaments were held simultaneously and it proved to be a huge success. This was the second time that the Czech Lacrosse Association hosted the games. In 1995, when the sport was just developing all over Europe and only 6 nations competed, the Czechs hosted a fantastic event. Great weather, wonderful pitches and a fantastic spirit were the trademarks of this event. This time it was no different although the number of teams and thus players has risen dramatically since 1995. But still, the organisational committee pulled it off and it seems that the younger nations have made a huge step up the ladder in regards to the competitive level. The Netherlands played very well, so did Latvia, who scored their first goal already in the first half of their first international game ever!
