Over the past few years lacrosse has grown from being played in just a few countries in Europe to now having teams and leagues in 24 countries, with others looking to start. Lacrosse is no longer just "the fastest game on two feet", it is also considered one of the fastest growing sports in the world.

The European Lacrosse Federation (ELF) is the organisational body for lacrosse played in Europe including women's and men's lacrosse.

Committee Vacancy - VP Women

After two years in ELF VP Women´s position, Barbara Bazantova has also informed the board that she will not be available for next term after Berlin AGM 2013, on June 22nd.

Main purpose of this role is to uphold and assist in achieving the aims and objectives of the Federation as enshrined in the constitution. To have an extensive knowledge of women’s lacrosse and to liaise with members, prospective members and groups wishing to start lacrosse and continue with developing women´s lacrosse projects around Europe.

ELF Tricksters Newcomers Cup

Tricksters lacrosse team in co-operation with the European Lacrosse Federation would like to invite you to ELF TRICKSTERS NEWCOMERS CUP. The idea behind this tournament is to enable new teams or teams still in development to compete in friendly athmosphere of fellow "Newcomers". In addition, this would be a good chance for lacrosse freshers to experience their first contact with the game, rules and the feeling of being a part of the growing lacrosse family. In case of your interest we would gladly plan clinics for players or umpires. If there are enough players that are interested in coming in fewer numbers, there will be an Open team for them to take part in.

DATE: 18th - 19th May 2013
TEAMS: 6 (the more the better)
MODE: 9+1
PLAYING TIME: 2 x 25 min
PLAYERS FEE: 200€ per team (to be payed in advance), 15€ single player fee (open team members, pick-ups)

ELF Job Opening – VP Men’s

After several years with the ELF and the last in the role of VP Men’s, Henning Schmidt has now informed the board that he will not be available for a role with the ELF after this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Berlin on June 22nd.

The role is very important for the ELF. Recent initiatives include the ELF Ambassador program, a newly appointed Indoor Lacrosse Coordinator and Coaching Coordinator. A key part of the role will be to develop and communicate strategic concepts to further the growth of the game throughout Europe. Other key issues include, amongst others, the preparation of the next European Championships, managing of three volunteers delivering camps, education and initiatives. Senior Women's National Coach

Lacrosse Scotland is looking to recruit a National Coach for the Women's National Training Squad. This post will become vacant immediately after 2013 World Cup.

The position will initially be held for a term of 2 years, with an option to extend to include the World Cup in 2017.
The candidate must:

  • Have a Level 2 coaching qualification or equivalent, working towards Level 3.
  • Have strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to build working relationships
  • Possess strong organisational abilities and demonstrate skills in managing a staff as well as players
  • Be a highly motivated individual who aspires to be successful and to make the teams successful.
  • Have significant competitive lacrosse coaching experience and demonstrate a record of success of the field as a coach and a mentor
  • Demonstrate a willingness to promote and grow the National Women's programme in line with the Lacrosse Scotland Strategic Plan
  • Be supportive of Lacrosse Scotland's vision of the growth and development of the women's game

1st ELF Camp - Machelen Minotaurs, 29th and 30th June 2013

The Machelen Minotaurs are hosting their first summer lacrosse camp on 29th and 30th of June 2013. They would like to invite all interested players to please take part in their first ever summer Lacrosse camp. The ELF supports the growth of the game in Europe over all and especially in the newer countries. Founded in 2011, the Minotaurs are competing in the Belgian cup and now look to take their game to the next level. This camp is carried out by the Belgium Lacrosse Federation, the Machelen Minotaurs and the ELF.

For this men's Lacrosse camp, the Minotaurs have secured the services of two experienced coaches:
- Brian Potter, a former NLL-player and current head coach of the Cologne Indians and the Spanish national team
- Henning Schmidt, currently serving in the ELF as the Vice President Men's Lacrosse and current coach of Welwyn Warriors Women's Lacrosse

Ken Galluccio Cup 2013 - Ghent bid successful

The ELF recently invited for bids for the 2013 edition of the Ken Galluccio Cup, the European Club Championship for men's and women's Lacrosse. Out of five initial bidders, two parties submitted comprehensive, well prepared and very competitive bids - one from Manchester, UK and one from Ghent, Belgium.

The postal voting process has now been completed and the official result is as follows: In favour of Ghent voted a total of nine countries, a total of five countries voted for the Manchester bid. No vote was received from other countries, one vote was not counted as it missed the deadline and one country abstained.

The board would like to congratulate all bidders to their professional bids and thank all member countries for their votes. We are now looking to support the successful bid as much as possible and look to support a successful tournament in close cooperation with the team from Ghent.

The Ken Galluccio Cup 2013 will be held on September 7th and 8th 2013, in Ghent, Belgium. More details on this will be available on the ELF's homepage and online media within the next week.
